Halifax Health is now offering a newborn care class led by Valarie Urquhart, RN, labor and delivery/parent educator for Halifax Health – Center for Women and Infant Health, that offers Happiest Baby on the Block and CPR instruction. The one-day class is offered monthly, with the next class taking place June 20.
Taught by Valerie Urquhart, a certified childbirth educator and Happiest Baby on the Block instructor, the one-day, newborn care class provides an overview of the popular Happiest Baby on the Block soothing techniques developed by renowned pediatrician, Harvey Karp, M.D. Happiest Baby on the Block teaches new parents how to soothe a fussy baby and help them sleep longer.
The newborn care class also includes a CPR demonstration, instructions on diapering and bathing, and what to expect with newborn appearances. Participants receive a Happiest Baby on the Block Parent Kit that includes a DVD available in English and Spanish, as well as a Super-Soothing Sleep Sounds CD, and an education manual on CPR from the American Heart Association.
Classes are scheduled to take place at Halifax Health Medical Center of Daytona Beach, 303 N. Clyde Morris Blvd., Daytona Beach, France Tower, Level 1, Meeting Room E, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on the following dates: June 20, July 11, August 29, September 19, October 24, November 14, and December 19.
The registration fee is $35 per couple. Class size is limited to 10 couples. Early registration is recommended for class preference.
