Top Fundraising Team Challenge Added to Race Event
Halifax Health – Hospice will host the 14th Annual 5K Run & Walk – Celebrating the Spirit of Caregiving on Sunday, September 13 at the Kenneth W. Parker Amphitheater, 2001 City Center Circle in Port Orange beginning at 8:00 am. All proceeds from the race will benefit the Halifax Health-Hospice Family Caregiver Program. The event’s presenting sponsor is Dale’s Shoes.

Race day activities include the 5K Run & Walk which begins at 8:00 am and the 1/8-Mile Kiddie Dash for children 10 years of age and younger at 8:50 am. The 5K Run & Walk is a Daytona Running Series event and will be professionally timed utilizing disposable electronic tags attached to bib numbers. The 5K course is certified by USA Track & Field.
New to this year’s race are two Top Fundraising Team Challenges. The community fundraising team which raises the most funds will receive a private party at BJ’s Restaurant and Brewhouse in Daytona Beach. The top internal Halifax Health – Hospice Fundraising Team Challenge is being sponsored by Houligan’s with a private party. Funds may be generated by both 5K registration fees and donations. All fundraising teams must be created online at halifaxhealth.org/hospice/Fall5k and their team members must list team name when registering.
All participants are encouraged to register early. To register online, or to print a mail-in application, go to halifaxhealth.org/hospice/Fall5k. Online registration ends at 5:00 p.m. on September 10. Pre-registration and packet pick-up will take place at the Halifax Health – Hospice Port Orange Care Center, 3800 Woodbriar Trail, on September 11 from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and September 12 from 10:00 am to noon. Race day begins with registration at 6:30 am.
Early registration fees for the 5K Run & Walk are $25 for adults and $15 for youth 18 years of age and younger through September 6. Registration fees increase between September 7-12 to $30 for adults and $20 for youth. Registration on the day of the event is $35 for adults and $25 for youth. Registration for the 1/8-Mile Kiddie Dash is $5 regardless of registration date.
Those who register early will receive t-shirts and goodie bags, while supplies last. Shirts and bags are not guaranteed to participants who register on race day. Post-race refreshments will be served.
