Storey Named Halifax Health Volunteer of the Month for December

Dorothy Storey of Port Orange is the recipient of Halifax Health’s Joe Petrock Volunteer of the Month Award for December 2015.  Storey has been a member of the Halifax Health – Auxiliary since September 2002 and has logged more than 16,500 hours of service to the community.  She has served in various volunteer roles at HalifaxHealthMedicalCenter including patient assistance, gift shop and Stitch N Knit.  With the Stitch N Knit team, she has helped to produce more than 15,000 pieces of crafted personal items per year, including pillows, stuffed animals, baby booties, caps, mittens and angel gowns.

In addition, Storey has served two terms as the president of the Auxiliary.  During her terms, the Auxiliary donated a combined total of $240,000 to Halifax Health – Foundation.  For information on volunteer opportunities at Halifax Health, call 386.254.4036 or visit halifaxhealth.org/volunteering.
