Louise Boufford of Port Orange is the Halifax Health-Auxiliary Volunteer of the Month for March 2016.  Boufford has been a faithful volunteer since 2003.  She has volunteered 15,000 hours, most of which has been dedicated to the Stitch ‘N Knit Department which provides knitted caps, booties and mittens for the hospital’s newborns.  She goes above and beyond with her dedication of time and has gone as far as coming in on a holiday so patients would not be without a pillow or stuffed animal, or newborns without caps, booties, and gowns.  Boufford gives of her time outside of the hospital by sewing at home as well.

Halifax Health – Auxiliary is a local charitable 501(c)(3) organization whose mission is to serve the community through partnership with Halifax Health.  The Auxiliary has been operating since 1932 and serves over 400 volunteer members contributing more than 80,000 hours annually.   The Halifax Health – Auxiliary also assists with general fundraising efforts through their Gift Shop, sponsored sales and partnership with First Uniform – the only in-house healthcare apparel and accessory store in the Daytona Beach area.  For information on volunteer opportunities at Halifax Health, call 386.254.4036 or visit halifaxhealth.org/volunteering.
