DAYTONA BEACH, FLA. – (August 24, 2022) The Military Order of Devil Dogs, a subsidiary organization of the Marine Corps League, donated $83,000 to Halifax Health – Betty Jane France Center for Pediatrics during their annual convention held in Daytona Beach. The Devil Dogs present a donation once a year to the local children’s hospital in the city where the Marine Corps League National Convention is held, and this year the city was Daytona Beach. The Devil Dogs chose Halifax Health – Speediatrics to honor with their generous donation raised through their fundraising efforts.
“The donation will be used to purchase five pediatric ICU bed monitors as part of an interior renovation for the Speediatrics Unit,” said Kathryn Nagib, Halifax Health – Foundation manager. “The goal is to increase technology and improve patient flow as well as the patient-family experience. The generosity of the Devil Dogs will continue to make a difference in the lives of children in our community.”
The Betty Jane France Center for Pediatrics, known locally as Speediatrics for its NASCAR-themed 32-bed pediatric unit, was designed with the idea of caring for the whole family in mind. Speediatrics creates a cheerful and reassuring environment for the children that are receiving care and for their families. Speediatrics cares for more than 2,000 children each year, including about 300 of those receiving care in the Pediatric ICU. It extends to the Pediatric Emergency Department located on the same floor and is also NASCAR-themed.
