Steven Miles, MD, FACR, is Senior Vice President & Chief Quality Officer for Halifax Health. Dr. Miles is working in partnership with Halifax Health leadership and the medical staff in the development and measurement of Halifax Health’s quality, performance improvement and medical safety initiatives. Dr. Miles oversees and integrates a comprehensive medical safety program as a component of Halifax Health’s quality services to improve safety for our patients, visitors and employees and will lead Halifax Health toward its goal of being the safest hospital in the country.
Dr. Miles has past and present leadership and participation on a variety of Halifax Health and medical staff boards and committees. These include serving on the Halifax Health Board of Commissioners from 1999-2002 and the Halifax Fish Community Health Board from 2000-2006. He is a past president of the Halifax Health Medical Staff and has past and present membership on a multitude of quality and safety committees including the Risk Management Committee, Utilization Review Committee, Quality Council, Medical Care and Surgical Care Evaluation Committees, Quality Assurance/Performance Improvement Committee, Trauma Committee, Intensive Care Committee and Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee. His knowledge both administratively and clinically of Halifax Health and its processes will allow him to quickly and effectively assess and implement best practices in quality and safety at Halifax Health.
A graduate of the University of Florida College of Medicine, Dr. Miles went on to complete his residency and fellowship at Shands Hospital in Gainesville. Since 1989, he has served as a clinical assistant professor of radiology for the UF College of Medicine. In addition, he is a clinical assistant professor for the Florida State University College of Medicine, as well as a member of the FSU College of Medicine Community Board.
Dr. Miles is a fellow in the American College of Radiology and has served on the Board of Governors of the Florida Medical Association and the Daytona State College Board of Trustees. He is also a past president of both the Florida Radiological Society and the Volusia County Medical Society.
