Halifax Health – Hospice will present its Camp BeginAgain fall weekend retreat for grieving children and teens on November 11-13 at Camp Winona, 898 Camp Winona Road, DeLeon Springs.
Children and teens, ages six to 18, who have recently experienced the death of a loved one, are encouraged to take part in CampBeginAgain. The camp is a weekend retreat that offers fun activities combined with sharing times to create an atmosphere where children can express their feelings and know they are not alone in their grief.
CampBeginAgain has trained volunteers and clinical staff to supervise participating children to ensure safety. Counselors and volunteers are available throughout the weekend to listen and talk with campers. A special memorial service is held at the end of camp to remember their loved ones.
Compassionate individuals willing to volunteer to spend a weekend or a day helping children are needed. A free, comprehensive training program for volunteers is provided.
Camper applications can be picked up from school guidance counselors in Volusia and Flagler counties or at halifaxhealth.org/hospice. The deadline to apply is October 24. Scholarships are available to attend the retreat. For more information, call 386.258.5100.
