DAYTONA BEACH, FLA. – (May 1, 2019) – Halifax Health President and Chief Executive Officer Jeff Feasel will be the honoree at the 2019 East Volusia Boy Scout Golden Eagle Dinner taking place Thursday, May 9 at the Hard Rock Hotel, 918 North Atlantic Avenue, in Daytona Beach. The event begins with a reception at 6:00 p.m.
Presented by the Central Florida Council of Boy Scouts of America, the East Volusia Boy Scout Golden Eagle Dinner is an annual fundraising event that supports scouting in Central Florida. The event brings together the area’s business, civic and political leaders to share the story of scouting’s positive impact on the youth who participate. The event also serves as an opportunity to honor outstanding community leaders for their service. The chairman of this year’s fundraising dinner is Charlie Lydecker.
Feasel, this year’s honoree, began his healthcare career in Ohio where he spent 16 years directing essential business operations for the Medical College of Ohio Hospitals in Toledo and Wood County Hospital in Bowling Green. In 2000, he joined Halifax Health where he filled critical roles including president and chief executive officer of Patient Business and Financial Services, vice president of Halifax Community Health System and chief operating officer. In 2005, he was named president and chief executive officer of Halifax Health.
As a dedicated healthcare professional, Feasel has been actively involved in the governance of many industry associations including the Safety Net Hospital Alliance of Florida, VHA Southeast, America’s Essential Hospitals, Florida Hospital Association and the American Hospital Association and Emergency Medical Foundation. He is also a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives and the Healthcare Financial Management Association. In 2015, he was one of the select U.S. hospital and health system leaders named to Becker’s Hospital Review’s list of “130 nonprofit hospital and health system CEOs to know.”
In addition, Feasel has served in leadership roles for multiple community organizations including the Civic League of Halifax Area, Daytona Regional Chamber of Commerce, Daytona Beach Community Foundation, Healthy Communities, and the Florida State University Community Advisory Board.
An advocate for education, he has served on the Bethune-Cookman University Business Advisory Board, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University Board of Trustees and Daytona Beach Youth Mentoring Program Advisory Board.
In 2018, more than 150 community leaders attended the Golden Eagle Dinner. Since last year’s event, 200 East Volusia Boy Scouts were able to participate in the local summer camp program; 150 Cub Scouts attended local day camps; and 20 young men earned the rank of Eagle Scout, contributing more than 5,000 hours of community service.
The goal of the 2019 East Volusia Boy Scout Golden Eagle Dinner is to raise more than $106,000 to support scouting in East Volusia County and to provide unparalleled experiences for more local youth.
There is no cost to attend the 2019 East Volusia Boy Scout Golden Eagle Dinner. All attendees will be asked to consider a pledge during the event. The pledge form will request an amount based on the attendee’s history of giving with the Boy Scouts. If there is no prior history of giving to the Boy Scouts, attendees will be asked to consider a gift of $300 which will support two scouts in 2019. Pledges can be paid at once, monthly or quarterly.
