The open enrollment period for the 2020 Health Insurance Marketplace is Friday, November 1 through Sunday, December 15, 2019.  Halifax Health – Healthy Communities has certified application counselors to assist those seeking coverage through the Health Insurance Marketplace.  Appointments are available Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. at the Halifax Health-Healthy Communities office, located at 1688 West Granada Boulevard in Ormond Beach.

The Health Insurance Marketplace is for those who do not have health coverage through employment, Medicare, Medicaid, the Children’s Health Insurance Program, or another source that provides qualifying health coverage.

Those who do have job-based insurance can buy a plan through the Marketplace, but will have to pay full price unless their employer’s insurance doesn’t meet certain standards.  Persons with Medicare cannot switch to Marketplace insurance, supplement their own coverage with a Marketplace plan, or buy a Marketplace dental plan.
