DAYTONA BEACH, FLA. – (May 9, 2017) – Halifax Health – Auxiliary is proud to announce Daytona Beach resident Connie Freer as the Joe Petrock Auxiliary Volunteer of the Month for May 2017.
A Halifax Health – Auxiliary member since November 2009, Freer began her volunteer service in the hospital’s Gift Shop. Since that time, she has logged nearly 5,000 volunteer hours. In addition, Freer actively contributes her accounting and bookkeeping acumen to the Auxiliary, having served as treasurer of the organization’s board of directors for several years.
Married to fellow Auxiliary volunteer Dave Freer for 68 years, she has dedicated many years of service as a healthcare professional, having worked for the late H.S. “Bud” Treloar, M.D. in his Daytona Beach obstetrics and gynecology practice for 26 years. During that time, she served as an operating room surgical technologist and eventually went on to oversee the business and accounting functions of the busy medical practice.
Halifax Health – Auxiliary is a local charitable 501(c)(3) organization whose mission is to serve the community through partnership with Halifax Health. The Auxiliary has been operating since 1932 and serves over 400 volunteer members contributing more than 80,000 hours annually. Halifax Health – Auxiliary also assists with general fundraising efforts through their Gift Shop, sponsored sales and partnership with First Uniform – the only in-house healthcare apparel and accessory store in the Daytona Beach area.
