Vivian Menge Gallo has been named senior vice president and general counsel for Halifax Health. As general counsel, Gallo reports directly to Jeff Feasel, president and chief executive officer of the 678-bed community hospital system.
“Vivian is a proven change agent with a track record of success. She brings to Halifax Health diverse and strong legal experience in healthcare. She has prior experience as a general counsel, in addition to demonstrated skills in the legal and compliance issues that span healthcare today,” Feasel explains.
Gallo brings more than 20 years of diverse legal experience to Halifax Health. She has extensive experience in the healthcare legal arena and has worked for the Office of the General Counsel, University of Pennsylvania; the Nemours Foundation and was the senior vice president and general counsel for Miami Children’s Health System. She also served as interim compliance director for one year at Nemours, where she managed the system-wide compliance program for all Nemours sites.
Most recently, Gallo served as deputy general counsel for University of Florida Health Shands in Gainesville, Florida where she provided healthcare regulatory, operational, and transactional support to senior management. She also managed the daily operations of the Shands Legal Services Department, including contracting, lab and facility licensure, property and casualty insurance coverage, property risk management, and claims and litigation for both the Gainesville and Jacksonville campuses of Shands. In addition, she is the current chairman of the Health Law Certification Committee for the Florida Bar and an adjunct professor at the University Of Florida Levin College Of Law.
Gallo is a cum laude graduate of the University of Florida where she received a Bachelor of Arts in English. She later received a Juris Doctorate from the University Of Florida College Of Law. A licensed Healthcare Risk Manager, Gallo is a Certified Professional in Healthcare Risk Management.
