DAYTONA BEACH, FLA. – (April 23, 2018) – Carolyn Geis, M.D., medical director for the Halifax Health|Brooks Rehabilitation Center for Inpatient Rehabilitation, has been invited to present her abstract entitled “Factors Associated with Return to Acute Hospital Care From Inpatient Rehabilitation Facility” at the 12th International Society of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine World Congress being held in Paris, France on July 8-12. The abstract was accepted by the organization’s Scientific Program Committee as an e-poster for presentation during the international conference.
The International Society of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine (ISPRM) serves as the global agency for physical and rehabilitation medicine. Since its founding in 1999, ISPRM has aimed to continuously improve physical and rehabilitation medicine practice and facilitate its input in international health organizations with the goal of contributing to optimal functioning and quality of life of people experiencing disability.

Recently elected vice-chair of the board of directors for the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Dr. Geis is board-certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation. She is a graduate of the University of Texas Medical Branch School of Medicine in Galveston and completed her residency at Loyola University Medical Center in Chicago. Her clinical expertise is in neurologic rehabilitation, spasticity management, stroke rehabilitation and brain injury rehabilitation. Dr. Geis holds subspecialty certification in brain injury medicine. In 1998, she was named the medical director of Halifax Health’s Center for Neurosciences and the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine. In addition, she serves as an assistant clinical professor for the Florida State University College of Medicine in Daytona Beach.
