DAYTONA BEACH, FLA. – (August 29, 2018) – On Monday, September 17, Halifax Health and The Volusia Flagler Family YMCA Healthy Living Centers will host the first of four open houses to introduce board-certified family medicine physician Leslie Williams, M.D., as the medical director for the area’s Healthy Living Centers. The first open house event will take place at the Ormond Beach Family YMCA, 500 Sterthaus Drive, Ormond Beach, from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
“We are excited to introduce Dr. Leslie Williams as the medical director of our Healthy Living Centers,” says Mica Lill, community health outreach director for The Volusia Flagler Family YMCA| Halifax Health – Healthy Living Centers. Lill adds, “With the addition of Dr. Williams, we will be able to expand our offerings, beginning with a prediabetes program that includes screening.”
The lead physician for Halifax Health – Primary Care in Ormond Beach, Dr. Williams is a graduate of the University of South Florida and the Morehouse School of Medicine in Atlanta. In 2017, he completed his residency at Halifax Health Medical Center of Daytona Beach where he served as chief resident.
The upcoming open house events will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the following Healthy Living Center locations on these dates:
- September 17 – Ormond Beach Family YMCA, 500 Sterthause Drive, Ormond Beach
- October 10 – Port Orange Family YMCA, 4701 City Center Parkway, Port Orange
- November 14 – DeLand Family YMCA, 761 E. International Speedway Boulevard, DeLand
- December 3 – Four Townes Family YMCA, 280 Wolf Pack Run, Deltona
During each open house event, attendees will have the chance to meet Dr. Williams from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., and also tour the Healthy Living Center to learn more about the classes and programs offered to the community. Complimentary refreshments will be served.
Launched locally in 2015 through a partnership between Halifax Health and The Volusia Flagler Family YMCA, the area’s Healthy Living Centers offer a wide range of free and low-cost health education, screening opportunities, classes and support groups for residents year-round. Residents do not have to be a YMCA member to attend Healthy Living Center activities and events.
