Halifax Health Announces Eight Incoming Residents, New Sports Medicine Fellow

Halifax Health is pleased to announce its 2015 Family Medicine Residents and Sports Medicine Fellow.

CARL CHOTAS, M.D.

Dr. Carl Chotas graduated from VanderbiltUniversity with a bachelor’s degree in history in 2008.  He then obtained a master’s degree in physiology at the University of Cincinnati.  Upon completion of his graduate education, he worked for the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Cincinnati and later attended medical school at MarshallUniversity’s Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine.

Dr. Kyle Correll is a magna cum laude graduate of Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania, majoring in biology with a minor in Spanish.  Dr. Correll received his medical degree from the University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine, graduating in the inaugural SELECT class, an affiliation with the Lehigh Valley Health Network in Allentown, Pennsylvania.

Dr. Joshua Grube graduated magna cum laude and first in his class from Oklahoma CityUniversity with a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry.  He then obtained his medical degree from Oklahoma University College of Medicine.

JAMES “GRANT” HOWARD, M.D.

Dr. James “Grant” Howard attended West VirginiaUniversity where he received a Bachelor of Science in Biology.  He is also a graduate of West VirginiaUniversity’s medical school.

KATHRYN MCHUGH, M.D.

Dr. Kathryn McHugh graduated summa cum laude from St. Lawrence University, where she majored in biochemistry with a minor in English.  She received her medical degree from SUNYUpstateMedicalUniversity in Syracuse, NY, where she took part in the Rural Medicine Scholars Program.

MARCIA NEWBY-GOODMAN, M.D.

Dr. Marcia Newby-Goodman is a summa cum laude graduate of the University of Georgia where she received a bachelor’s degree in biological sciences.  She later earned a medical degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston and was selected to be a member of the Texas Alpha Chapter of Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society.

MARIAAH WILLIAMS, M.D.

Dr. Mariaah Williams is a native of Boston, Massachusetts and a graduate of FiskUniversity where she received a bachelor’s degree in biology.  She went on to earn her medical degree from MeharryMedicalCollege in Nashville, Tennessee.

 

MICHAEL YOUNG, M.D.

Dr. Michael Young has a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a master’s degree in counseling.  He earned his medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta.

MATTHEW MURRAY, M.D.

Dr. Matthew Murray joins the Halifax Health Sports Medicine Fellowship after recently graduating from the Halifax Health – Family Medicine Residency program.

The longest standing community-based, family medicine residency program in the state of Florida, Halifax Health – Family Medicine Residency Program is affiliated with the Department of Family Medicine of the University of South Florida College of Medicine and the Florida State University College of Medicine.
