Halifax Health and health organizations nationwide participate in Flags Across America
DAYTONA BEACH, FLA. – (April 2, 2021) –
On Thursday, April 1, Halifax Health participated in Flags Across America to help raise Organ and Tissue Donation awareness for Donate Life month in April. Those that participated and spoke about the importance of organ and tissue donation included members from the Halifax Health– Center for Transplant Services affiliated with UF Health, Our Legacy, Daytona Beach Mayor Derrick Henry, other Halifax Health Team Members, and a donor recipient and family member of a donor.
At the end of the event, the Donate Life flag was raised outside of the France Tower at Halifax Health Medical Center to fly during the month of April to help increase awareness to organ and tissue donation. Green and blue gels were inserted around the fountains near the Betty Jane France Statue to commemorate the month as well.
In 2020, Halifax Health had 39 donors, an increase from 19 in 2019, and 112 transplant organs that gave the gift of life.
