Did you know Halifax Health | Brooks Rehabilitation offers community programs that provide adapted recreation opportunities to children and adults? A variety of activities are located throughout Volusia and Flagler counties and are open to everyone in the community. You do not have to be a patient of Halifax Health or Brooks Rehabilitation to participate. Learn more about each program below.

Pediatric Recreation

The program provides accessible recreation and community integration opportunities to enhance quality of life. All activities and equipment are provided FREE for children birth to 17 years old with any limitation or disability. Activities aim to to enhance cognitive, physical, emotional and social skills. Activities include:

  • Adapted Aquatics Classes
  • Bowling
  • Social Skills Classes
  • Special Events and Community Outings

Adaptive Sports and Recreation

The program provides adapted recreation activities to individuals with any limitation or disability to enhance quality of life. All activities are FREE. Activities include

  • Virtual programming

Adaptive Wellness

The Adaptive Wellness program, in partnership with Volusia Flagler Family YMCA, provides diagnosis-specific exercise programs for the following diagnoses:

  • Stroke
  • Brain Injury
  • Parkinson’s Disease
  • Multiple Sclerosis

The program is supervised by an exercise specialist with the goal to reintroduce participants back into a traditional gym setting. Each participant will receive a customized exercise plan to help achieve strength, endurance, balance and overall mobility goals. Locations include Ormond Beach, Port Orange and DeLand Family YMCAs. The cost to participate is $15/month for current Volusia Flagler YMCA members or $30/month for non-members. Note, check with your insurance company on  gym membership coverage as some policies may cover the cost of this program.
