Daytona Beach, FL – (February 16, 2024) Halifax Health, the area’s healthcare leader for over 95 years, is taking a significant step forward by choosing Epic, a healthcare technology provider, to revolutionize its electronic medical records system.  Halifax Health will join a global community of forward-thinking healthcare organizations in adopting Epic’s electronic medical records platform.

“The move to Epic will be one of the most transformational events in the over 95-year history of Halifax Health,” said Jeff Feasel, President and Chief Executive Officer at Halifax Health. “This is a $92 million investment in the community, and it signifies our commitment to delivering the highest level and highest quality of care to our patients. Epic will serve as our comprehensive solution for patient access, analytics, and patient flow through the care continuum.  Patients at Halifax Health will now have access to a user-friendly platform, MyChart, which provides easy access to health information, online scheduling, provider messaging, online bill-pay and a single record that will inform their healthcare experiences even when they travel or relocate. What’s truly groundbreaking is that Epic provides seamless access to medical records for our patients, regardless of location.”

The transition to the Epic system will replace eight different electronic medical record systems currently utilized across the Halifax Health system. This shift to a single, integrated system will create a new era of transparency and collaboration, enhancing the overall patient experience and care.  In addition to the immediate benefits to patient care, the partnership with Epic will also create exciting opportunities within the healthcare technology economy sector. Over 80 information technology careers will be established within the Halifax Health system, further contributing to the local economy.

“Turning to Epic to advance and improve our care delivery will provide multiple careers and career launching pads for IT professionals,” noted Mike Marques, Vice President and Chief Information Officer at Halifax Health. Marques is spearheading the recruitment of information technology professionals to support this transformative project. “With the addition of Epic to our applications, we will be training our current Team Members and actively seeking new Epic Team Members to build and administer the new records system,” he added.

Halifax Health’s partnership with Epic represents a significant investment in the community, a commitment to enhancing patient care, and the creation of new job opportunities. The transition to Epic reaffirms Halifax Health’s dedication to serving the needs of patients, healthcare professionals, and the community.
