DAYTONA BEACH, FLA. – (August 22, 2017) – On June 24, the eight members of the 44th Graduating Class of the Halifax Health – Family Medicine Residency Program and the 20th Graduate of the Halifax Health Sports Medicine Fellowship were honored during a special Graduation Gala at The Shores Resort & Spa in Daytona Beach Shores.
The 2017 Family Medicine Residency Program graduates include: Tara Fritze, M.D.; Jonathan Harvey, M.D.; Jason Keister, M.D.; Jennifer Kirkman, M.D.; Bich Nguyen, M.D.; Lauren Powell, M.D.; Hannah Taft, M.D.; and Leslie Williams, M.D.
These physicians have completed Halifax Health’s three-year program which provides comprehensive family medicine training in inpatient and outpatient settings that allow graduates to feel confident practicing in any milieu. The program provides sequential and gradually increasing ambulatory care responsibility as well as realistic experiences required of family physicians. Clinical rotations are conducted in adult medicine, women’s health, child and adolescent care, behavioral sciences and psychiatry, and surgery.
Affiliated with both Florida State University and the University of South Florida, Halifax Health – Family Medicine Residency Program provides leading-edge clinical education while adhering to rigorous academic standards. Accredited in 1971, it is the longest operating community-based family medicine residency program in Florida, as well as one of the most honored programs in the nation. The majority of the program’s 284 graduates serve as dedicated primary care physicians providing compassionate and comprehensive care to the communities they serve, including Volusia and Flagler counties.
Allen Todd, M.D., was also honored during the gala as the 20th Graduate of the Halifax Health Sports Medicine Fellowship.
The Sports Medicine Fellowship Program at Halifax Health is a one-year position open to graduates of Accreditation Council of Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) accredited Family Medicine Residency Programs achieving American Board of Family Medicine Certification or similar training credentials in Internal Medicine, Emergency Medicine or qualified Preventive Medicine Residency applicants. The Sports Medicine Fellowship has been ACGME accredited since 1997. Graduates are eligible for the American Board of Family Practice Certificate of Added Qualification in Sports Medicine.
