Halifax Health – Hospice to Host 15th Annual 5K Run & Walk

Halifax Health – Hospice will host the 15th Annual 5K Run & Walk – Celebrating the Spirit of Caregiving on Saturday, September 10 at the Kenneth W. Parker Amphitheater, 2001 City Center Circle in Port Orange beginning at 8:00 am.  Proceeds from the race will benefit the Halifax Health – Hospice Family Caregiver Program. The event’s presenting sponsor is Dale’s Shoes. 

“We are delighted to have Dale’s Shoes return as our presenting sponsor.  With their commitment to hospice and their expertise in footwear, including athletic shoes, they are a natural fit for this event,” says Sheri Robbins, fund development specialist for Halifax Health – Hospice.  Dale’s Shoes is extending their support to the community by offering complimentary race registration to the first 15 individuals who register in person, by September 7, at their store located at 2595 W. International Speedway Blvd., Daytona Beach.  To receive the complimentary registration, participants must be 18 years of age or older, or bring a legal guardian to sign the waiver.

Race day activities include the 5K Run & Walk which begins at 8:00 am, a Veterans Community Pinning and the 1/8-Mile Kiddie Dash at 8:50 am for children 10 years of age and younger.  The 5K Run & Walk is part of the Live Your Life Well and Daytona Running Series and will be professionally timed. 

All participants are encouraged to register early.  To register online, or to print a mail-in application, go to halifaxhealth.org/hospice/5K.  Online registration ends on September 8.  Pre-registration and packet pick-up will take place at the Halifax Health – HospicePort OrangeCareCenter, 3800 Woodbriar Trail, on September 9 from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.  Race day begins with registration at 6:30 am. 

Early registration fees for the 5K Run & Walk are $25 for adults and $15 for youth 18 years of age and younger through August 27.  Registration fees increase between August 28 through September 8 to $30 for adults and $20 for youth.  Registration on the day of the event is $35 for adults and $25 for youth.  Registration for the 1/8-Mile Kiddie Dash is $5 regardless of registration date. 

Those who register early will receive t-shirts and goodie bags, while supplies last.  Shirts and bags are not guaranteed to participants who register on race day.  Post-race refreshments will be served.
