DAYTONA BEACH, FLA. – (September 15, 2023) – Halifax Health – Hospice will be hosting the 22nd annual 5K Run & Walk on Saturday, November 4 at the Kenneth W. Parker Amphitheater, 2001 City Center Circle in Port Orange beginning at 8:00 am. Proceeds from the race will benefit the Halifax Health – Hospice Family Caregiver Program. This year’s race is presented by Heart of Volusia.

The inaugural race took place in 2001 at the Halifax Health – Hospice Port Orange Care Center and raised about $13,000. Over the last 22 years, the race has moved to Port Orange City Center and has raised over $700,000 for the Family Caregiver Program.

The Hospice 5K brings out a mixture of the area’s top competitive runners, as well as hundreds of walkers and families. Race day activities include the 5K Run & Walk which begins at 8:00 am, a Kiddie Fitness Zone at 8:15 am for children 10 years of age and younger and a Veterans Community Pinning after the race. The 5K Run & Walk is part of the Daytona Running Series and will be professionally timed.

“We have seen continuous growth over the last year with the amount of patients we are serving,” said Janet Miller, Executive Director of Halifax Health – Hospice. “The more patients we serve, the more caregivers there are in our community that need support. The proceeds from the 5K gives our Family Caregiver Program the funds to provide this support throughout the communities we serve.”
