Halifax Health Medical Center of Daytona Beach joins health organizations nationwide participating in Flags Across America, a Donate Life America initiative which honors and celebrates the hundreds of thousands of donors and recipients whose lives have been affected by organ, eye and tissue donation. Halifax Health Medical Center will fly the Donate Life flag throughout the month of April which is recognized nationally as Donate Life Month.
Speakers will include:
- Jeff Feasel, president and chief executive officer, Halifax Health;
- Chris and Laura Dawkins of Orlando, the parents of a donor who will share their family’s journey;
- Daytona Beach Police Detective Raymond Ousterman of Port Orange and Anthony Richards of Palm Coast, transplant recipients;
- William Kendall, M.D., FACS, UF Health, assistant professor, Transplantation Surgery, Halifax Health – Center for Transplant Services; and
- Matthew Petkus, vice president of surgical services, Halifax Health
The public is invited to attend this free ceremony.
In addition, the hospital will be lit green in the evenings throughout April in observance of National Donate Life Month. To further spread awareness, on April 13, hospital staff will distribute blue and green carnations to visitors, staff and patients to commemorate National Donate Life Blue & Green Day.
