Halifax Health Medical Center of Daytona Beach joins health organizations nationwide participating in Flags Across America, a Donate Life America initiative which honors and celebrates the hundreds of thousands of donors and recipients whose lives have been affected by organ, eye and tissue donation. Halifax Health Medical Center will fly the Donate Life flag throughout the month of April which is recognized nationally as Donate Life Month.
Speakers will include:
- Jennifer Eden of DeLand, a mother of a donor who will share her family’s journey;
- Derick Rogers of Sanford, a kidney transplant recipient;
- Kent Harman, M.D., director of critical care medicine for Halifax Health Medical Center;
- Rod Mateo, M.D., surgical director for Halifax Health – Center for Transplant Services;
and
- Matthew Petkus, Service Line Administrator, Halifax Health Medical Center
The public is invited to attend this free ceremony.
In addition, the hospital will be lit green in the evenings throughout April in observance of National Donate Life Month. Also, on April 21, hospital staff will distribute blue and green carnations to visitors, staff and patients to commemorate National Donate Life Blue & Green Day to further spread awareness.
