Halifax Health to Present Sports Medicine Conference

Halifax Health – Center for Family and Sports Medicine will present Sports Medicine Conference on Saturday, August 15 from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. at the DME Wellness Center, 2441 Bellevue Avenue in Daytona Beach.

“Athletic trainers will benefit greatly from this conference.  It will provide an advanced and comprehensive overview of sports medicine that includes injury prevention and rehabilitation, clinical scenarios, and information on concussion evaluation and management,” says Roy Lemaster, M.D., a family medicine physician who specializes in sports medicine at Halifax Health – Center for Family and Sports Medicine.

Topics covered during the conference will include: an update on concussions as well as sideline concussion assessment; shoulder programs (prevention and rehabilitation); how to properly evaluate and manage life-threatening injuries in athletes; lumbar back injuries and rehabs; dislocations and reductions; core training (exercise implementation and progression); cervical spine injuries and management and clinical scenarios for cervical spine injuries.  Certified athletic trainers who attend the conference can receive 6.0 hours of continuing education units.

The conference’s instructors include medical doctors with a Certification of Added Qualification in Sports Medicine, a Sports Medicine Fellow and athletic trainers. 

Registration for the conference is $25 and includes lectures, lunch and a certificate of continuing education.
