Halifax Health to Present Trauma STAT 2016 Symposium Features Fundamental Concepts of Trauma Care

On September 16-17, Halifax Health will present Trauma STAT 2016, a comprehensive two-day symposium featuring fundamental concepts of trauma care and scenario-based activities, all targeted to optimize the continuum of care for the severely injured patient.  The symposium will take place at the Hilton Daytona Beach Oceanfront Resort, 100 N. Atlantic Avenue, Daytona Beach.

This year’s symposium faculty is comprised of many of Halifax Health’s key trauma providers, as well as the coordinated participation of myriad public safety agencies from VolusiaCounty.  Guest faculty includes Kenneth Bouvier, deputy chief of operations for the City of New Orleans Emergency Medical Services and Dr. William Hampton, a Wisconsin-based emergency medicine physician.   

Topics covered during the symposium will include: Understanding and Managing Hemorrhage; Interventional Radiology in Trauma; Destination O.R.: Should I Stay or Should I Go?; Palliative Pearls for the Trauma Team; The Traumatic Side of Social Media; Advanced Interpretation of Adult & Pediatric Vital Signs; Motor Vehicle Collisions; School Shootings: Ready or Not; Critically Injured & Ill Children: An ED Case Series; Trauma in Pregnancy: The Things You Don’t Expect When You Are Expecting; Damage Control Surgery; Taking the Turmoil Out of Triage;  and Trauma Jeopardy.  

The symposium takes place Friday, September 16 from 7:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. and Saturday, September 17 from 7:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m.  In addition, a networking reception will open the event on Friday, September 16 beginning at 4:45 p.m. 

Physicians, nurses, respiratory therapists, paramedics and emergency medical technicians, radiography professionals, nutritionists and dieticians are encouraged to attend.  Continuing education credits are available.

One-day registration for the symposium is $75.  For both Friday and Saturday, registration is $125.  The cost for the networking reception is $5.  The registration fee includes breakfast, lunch, lectures and a certificate of attendance. 

Registration at the door is available space permitting.  At that time, only check payment will be accepted.
