Lohman Florida Diabetes and Wellness Conference

Sunday, November 17, 2019 from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm

Port Orange Family YMCA, 4701 City Center Parkway, Port Orange

On November 17, Help A Diabetic Child Foundation (HADC) will host the inaugural Lohman Florida Diabetes and Wellness Conference in partnership with the Volusia Flagler Family YMCA and Halifax Health.  This will be the largest conference on diabetes taking place on the Central East Coast of Florida.  The conference is open to the public and has sessions suited for children, families, caregivers, and medical providers.  Presentations will cover an array of topics relative to diabetes and wellness.  Various wellness and diabetes-related vendors will also be in attendance.

The keynote speaker for the conference will be Ryan Reed, a NASCAR driver living with type 1 diabetes.

Earlier this year, it was announced that Nancy and Lowell Lohman donated a total of $100,000 to the HADC Foundation to help get it started in Volusia County.  Lowell Lohman, a successful athlete throughout his life, will participate in the conference as a guest speaker.  In addition, Lohman and Reed will be joined in a break-out panel discussion on “Diabetes & Sports” by Coach Rick Zucchi, owner of ZEE Goalkeeper Academy, and Emily Lafferty, an outstanding soccer player and 2019 graduate of Spruce Creek High School.

The cost to attend is $15 for children, $20 for adults and $40 for healthcare professionals. Continuing education credits are available.  Lunch is included in registration.  Sponsorship and exhibitor opportunities are still available.
