Whether it’s a sports team seeking to cement a dynasty or a medical center looking to continue a significant distinction, repeating can be difficult. In consecutive years Halifax Health Medical Center of Daytona Beach was named as one of the nation’s top performing hospitals by Fortune and IBM® Watson Health® for cardiovascular care.
How does one reach this level of excellence? The annual Fortune/IBM 50 Top Cardiovascular Hospitals study spotlights leading short-term, acute care, non-federal US hospitals that treat a broad spectrum of cardiology patients. The study is designed to identify impartial, actionable, and attainable benchmarks for hospital and clinical leaders as they work to raise their own organizations’ standards of performance in cardiac care. This year’s study included 980 hospitals in the United States with cardiovascular service lines.
What does this mean for our patients in search of expert cardiovascular care?
- Shorter length of stay after a heart procedure
- Fewer readmissions than 930 other hospitals in the nation including all the ones in East Central Florida
- Board-certified surgeons from UF Health Heart and Vascular Surgery at Halifax Health
- Lower mortality, complications, and cost for heart attack, heart failure, and open heart surgery patients
Achievements and recognition like this don’t just magically happen. They are an attribute to the whole group of Team Members that work so hard to provide exceptional patient care. From the Emergency Room Physicians, Cath Lab, Intensivists, Cardiologists, CVICU and CPCU nursing staff, and UF Health Heart and Vascular at Halifax Health team, it takes a total team effort.
Congratulations to our entire Cardiovascular team on their monumental achievement. Former Los Angeles Lakers player Byron Scott coined the term “three-peat” after his team won back to back NBA championships in the late 1980s, which is something to which the entire Halifax Health Cardiovascular team hopes to achieve in the coming year.
