Halifax Health and the Volusia/Flagler Family YMCA have also collaborated and created the Live Your Life Well Lifestyle Change Diabetes Prevention Education Program. The education series is a 12-week long series that meets weekly for one hour where our participants can learn more about a variety of topics and their impact on diabetes. Those diagnosed with pre-diabetes, type 1 or type 2 diabetes are not the only ones encouraged to be a part of the series.

Caregivers or family members interested in learning more
about diabetes are welcomed to participate. The 12-week series is free to attend for participants. The series is taught by Mica Lill, MPH, Executive Director, Community Health Director, Volusia/Flagler Family YMCA.

The primary goals of this series are to reduce body weight, increase physical activity to 150 minutes per week, and fully integrate a new lifestyle for each participant to have a healthier life.

Our team will work with the series participants to tackle the problems that get in the way of healthy eating, discuss and exchange ideas on how to incorporate more physical activity into daily life, and to develop action plans that will support a lifestyle behavior change.
