Daytona Beach, FL – (October 11, 2023) Matthew’s Gift, a non-profit organization dedicated to offering hope and support to children with medical complexities and their families, is proud to announce a donation to Halifax Health and the families served in the Betty Jane France Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Matthew’s Gift of $40,000 will be used to create a day room for parents with babies in the NICU.
Matthew’s Gift was founded in memory of Matthew Gable, a remarkable young boy who defied the odds and inspired everyone he encountered. Born prematurely at just 29 weeks, “Matthew faced a multitude of medical challenges throughout his life, including pulmonary hypertension. Despite these obstacles, he exhibited unwavering determination and an indomitable spirit, reminding us all of the incredible potential within every child,” according to Matt Gable, Matthew’s father.
Tragically, on April 14, 2016, Matthew passed away due to complications from his ongoing medical issues. His legacy of resilience and courage lives on through Matthew’s Gift, a testament to the Gable family’s commitment to helping others who find themselves on a similar journey.
Matthew’s Gift aims to accomplish several vital goals:
Financial Support for Families: The organization provides financial assistance to families in need, offering help with gas, lodging, gift cards, and other essential expenses during their challenging times.
Support for Hospitals: Matthew’s Gift seeks to enhance the care provided to children and families with complex medical needs by raising funds for local hospitals to acquire necessary medical supplies and equipment. It also supports the development and enhancement of dedicated complex care units.
Research and Medication Development: The organization actively contributes to the research and development of medications to aid children, particularly those battling pulmonary hypertension.
Assistance for Last Needs: In recognition of the harsh reality some families face, Matthew’s Gift extends financial assistance for funeral expenses and other urgent needs.
Matthew’s Gift intends to engage directly with the community through family-friendly and formal events to raise funds and awareness for its initiatives. The organization is committed to serving the Greater Daytona Beach and Orlando areas with humility and grace.
