Derek Quinn has been named director of internal audit for Halifax Health.

A Certified Internal Auditor, Quinn is also certified in healthcare compliance and has 18 years of progressive experience in the not-for-profit healthcare, publicly traded and governmental internal audit environments. He was most recently a senior manager for Moss Adams, LLP. While there, he helped lead the firm’s healthcare internal audit practice and specialized in implementing and performing enterprise-wide risk assessments, evaluating risk and internal controls, and recommending cost-effective and value-added process improvements. His healthcare internal audit expertise includes the operational, financial, compliance, and IT functions within integrated healthcare systems, acute care and critical access hospitals, physician practices, hospice and palliative care, joint ventures, and foundations.
Prior to joining Moss Adams, he was as an outsourced regional chief internal audit executive for the nation’s second largest not-for-profit healthcare system. He developed and executed effective risk-based annual audit plans and provided oversight for independent and team audits and the deployment of specialized audit resources. He spent several years conducting financial, operational, and compliance audits for a national provider of retirement, assisted living, and skilled nursing facilities, and also has experience working within the government industry.
Quinn holds a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration and Accounting from the University of Washington in Seattle.
