Highest-Rated Heart Program
UF Health Heart & Vascular Surgery at Halifax Health continues to receive the highest rating for open heart bypass surgical performance by the Society of Thoracic Surgeons (STS), which measures clinical excellence in heart programs nationwide. This puts our heart program among the top 10% of heart programs in the nation; meaning you get world-class surgical care close to home.
The STS rating is based on the performance provided by UF cardiothoracic surgeons and Halifax Health’s surgical team during open heart bypass surgery (both on-pump and off-pump procedures), as well as post-surgery protocols that have been determined to provide the best outcomes for patients. This is considered the gold standard in tracking the performance of any heart program.
