Elvia Cortes, APRN-C, is a Nurse Practitioner in Vascular Surgery at UF Health Heart and Vascular Surgery at Halifax Health. She works with both the inpatient and outpatient teams and is passionate about personalized care in treating patients who suffer from a variety of diseases including carotid artery disease, abdominal aortic aneurysms, end stage renal disease, venous insufficiency and peripheral arterial disease.

After receiving her Associates Degree in Nursing from Daytona State College, she worked as an Emergency Room nurse for fifteen years. In 2016 Elvia graduated from The University of South Florida, with her APRN license.

Elvia joined the UF Health Vascular program in 2016 shortly after its inception. She helps make sure that all patients receive the highest quality care in all phases: before surgery, during hospitalization and postoperatively. In addition to clinical practice, she enjoys working with students and residents and is eager to promote education and career development for RNs/NPs.

She takes pride in keeping the UF Health Vascular program the premier vascular surgical center in the region. She enjoys seeing patients both in the hospital and in the clinic to provide continuity of care and wellness among our patients with vascular disease. She believes strongly in taking care of the whole patient, not solely the immediate vascular surgical need.

As a lifelong native and mother of two wonderful children, Elvia enjoys spending time with them relaxing outdoors, exercising and celebrating all that our great community has to offer.
