Pediatric Hospital Services
Children are not little adults.
We understand how stressful it can be when your child requires medical attention, and we are here to provide support and answer any questions regarding your child’s health. Children are not little adults. They need to be seen by specialists that are trained specifically for pediatric care. At Halifax Health, we have board-certified pediatricians that provide compassionate care in a loving environment. From runny noses to broken bones, we have you covered.
Pediatric Emergency Department
Going to the emergency room can be a scary thing, for parents and kids. It’s loud; there are other people there that are sick and typically they are not designed with kids in mind. They also don’t have pediatricians on staff to care for kids. In most cases, the physicians in the Emergency Room are trained to provide medical care to adults. At Halifax Health, we are the area’s only Level II Trauma Center which means that we have a full range of specialists and equipment available 24 hours a day to provide care to trauma patients. All hospitals are different and are not all equipped to handle traumas. Our Pediatric Emergency Department has 12 private rooms and is fully staffed with board-certified pediatricians, trauma surgeons and intensivists. Our team is ready 24/7 to care for your child.
Level II Pediatric Intensive Care Unit
Halifax Health Medical Center has the only Level II Pediatric Intensive Care Unit in Volusia and Flagler counties. The PICU is the section of the hospital that is dedicated to the treatment of children that require the highest level of medical attention and care. We have a team of experts that all specialize in pediatric care that includes pediatric intensivists, critical care nurses, respiratory therapists, rehabilitation therapists, pharmacists, dietitians and nurse care managers. We offer services 24 hours a day, seven days a week and are staffed with a multi-disciplinary team that are focused on providing the best care for your child.
