Nutrition

Halifax Health offers complete nutrition services to patients, to help cope with diet and appetite issues related to cancer and cancer treatment. Nutrition is an integral part of our Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM).

Our Registered Oncology Dietician, a cancer nutritional professional, is available to work with patients and their families, especially those identified at risk for having nutritional challenges or special needs.

Nutritional Information

Nutritional status can be adversely affected by the disease process, including the symptoms and side effects of cancer and its treatment. The nutritional professional works with patients, families and/or caregivers, physicians, and other members of the oncology multidisciplinary team to help maintain optimal nutritional status throughout the continuum of care (prevention, treatment, survivorship, palliative care, and hospice).

Halifax Health - Cancer Center for Hope registered oncology dietician provides nutritional screenings on a majority of cancer patients in the program, providing ninety percent of those patients with specific interventions and education throughout their cancer journey.
