Our orthopedic and sports medicine practice has a state-of-the-art facility with 4 clean air operating suites. Our dedicated nursing staff specializes in orthopedic care. We offer pre-operation classes for patients, and additionally we offer comprehensive education on joint replacement for our patients. We offer multiple physical therapy sessions every day for both post-operative patients and sports injury patients.

We believe a multidisciplinary approach is key to providing patient-centric care. Our anesthesia staff offers each patient superior pain management specifically designed for orthopedic and sports medicine patient needs. Dr. J. Richard Rhodes is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon who has been in practice for 32 years in Volusia County. He has performed over 5,000 total knee replacement surgeries and over 3,000 total hip replacement surgeries using the latest technology available. He has traveled the world to study medicine in many locations including England, Mexico, Switzerland and China. Dr. Rhodes believes in giving his patients the quality time they deserve while treating their condition.

Andrew Hayden, MD, is a fellowship-trained, board-eligible orthopedic surgeon at UF Health Orthopedics – Medical Center of Deltona who specializes in sports medicine and uses minimally invasive techniques to treat injuries and conditions of the knee, shoulder, hip and elbow. Dr. Hayden is an expert shoulder and knee surgeon with specialty training in rotator cuff, labrum, ACL, meniscus and cartilage injuries. He also offers minimally invasive joint replacement of the shoulder, knee, and hip.

Biography

Dr. Stephane Lavoie was born in Quebec and raised in French Canada with his sister and three brothers. Dr. Lavoie completed undergraduate studies in pre-medicine while balancing the rigors of competing on a National Championship intercollegiate volleyball team.

Dr. Lavoie attended medical school at Laval University in Quebec and soon realized he wanted to be a surgeon of the musculoskeletal system. During his residency, Dr. Lavoie developed a love for orthopaedic surgery because of the practical aspects it held. After completing his residency Dr. Lavoie was selected to complete a fellowship specializing in spine surgery at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas.

Dr. Lavoie brings a new level of medical service to our patients, being the only fellowshiptrained spine surgeon in the Sanford and West Volusia areasHe has also had the opportunity to work with leading companies on the development and design of advanced instrumentation for the treatment of spinal conditionsSome of those new implants are being used now to improve patients’ surgical outcomes.

Biography

Dr. J. David Watts is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon. Dr. Watts provides general orthopaedic care, with a special interest in foot and ankle surgery. He received his medical degree from the University of Minnesota Medical School and went on to complete his residency in Orthopaedic Surgery there as well.

Dr. Watts’ goal as an Orthopedic Surgeon is to relieve musculoskeletal pain and improve function to allow his patients to maintain a healthy, active lifestyle. This involves treating recent injuries and fractures, diagnosing and treating chronic problems, and revising problems created by other surgeries.

His training includes complex lower extremity deformities and reconstruction such as ankle replacements, Charcot foot, arthritis, bunion and hammertoe correction, and innovative minimally invasive and arthroscopic surgical techniques.

During his time at the University of Minnesota, Dr. Watts’ research efforts included studying surgical corrections of arthrogryposis in the hand and the benefits of PRP with syndesmotic ankle sprains, in addition to an article review for Bankart repair in athletes.

Dr. Watts has a wife and two children. He enjoys spending time with his family, being outdoors, and snowboarding. Since moving to Florida, he is eager to start surfing and fishing.
