Dr. DeMarco is a board-certified Pediatric Urologist who completed his Urology residency at Indiana University and Pediatric Urology fellowship at Vanderbilt University. Dr. DeMarco has held faculty positions at Vanderbilt University and joint appointments at the University of Missouri-Kansas City and Kansas University when he was the Director of Pediatric Urology Research at Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri. Prior to joining the faculty at the University of Florida, Dr. DeMarco was the first Chief of Pediatric Urology at Sanford Children’s Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Dr. DeMarco practices general Pediatric Urology.

After receiving her Bachelor's in Science of Nursing from the University of Puerto Rico, Yesenia Malave, APRN, went on to pursue a Master's in Science of Nursing - Family Nurse Practitioner at South University in Orlando, FL. She began working at Halifax Health Medical Center - Port Orange in 2018 as a Medical Surgical Nurse. In 2019, she was awarded the distinction of Nurse of Excellence "Rookie of the Year" for providing outstanding patient care.

Before joining UF Health, Bennett Scaglia, MD joined Halifax Health in 2009 after serving as the Medical Director of the prestigious Uro Health Institute of Illinois. In addition to being in private practice for 15 years, he served as a faculty member at the University of Illinois – College of Medicine in Chicago, Ill.

Dr. Scaglia graduated from New York Medical College with honors in 1987. This was followed by postgraduate training in general surgery and urology totaling seven years. The initial year was spent at the Eastern Virginia Graduate School of Medicine in Norfolk, Va., and the remaining years were at New York Medical College in Westerchester County, NY.

Dr. Scaglia is board-certified by the American Board of Urology and is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons.  Dr. Scaglia has been a Florida resident since 2008, is an avid pilot and motorcycle enthusiast, living in Port Orange with his wife Rose. He also enjoys mountain biking and spending time with family and friends.

Steven A. Sidelsky, MD, PharmD, is a University of Florida urologist at UF Health Urology at Halifax Health.

Dr. Sidelsky completed his undergraduate training at Loyola University Chicago prior to receiving his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Midwestern University Chicago College of Pharmacy, where he graduated as class valedictorian. He then went on to complete his medical degree at Rush Medical College in Chicago, Ill., where he graduated as class salutatorian and was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honors Medical Society.

He completed his general surgery internship and urology residency at the prestigious University of Chicago Medicine in Chicago, Ill., where he trained extensively in minimally invasive and robotic surgical techniques.

Dr. Sidelsky provides comprehensive urologic care with a focus on minimally invasive procedures for a wide range of benign and malignant urologic disorders. He has a special clinical and surgical interest in robotic surgery, management of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), laser treatment for kidney stone disease, erectile dysfunction and urinary incontinence. Dr. Sidelsky provides up-to-date and cutting-edge treatment options for cancers of the kidney, bladder and prostate.

In his free time, Dr. Sidelsky enjoys spending time with his family including his wife, two young children and pet dog, Jake. You can usually find him on the beach soaking up the Florida sunshine. Dr. Sidelsky strives to provide the highest quality, individualized care for his patients.

Shawn Thomas, DO, is a board-certified Urologic Surgeon and is a member of the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons and the American Osteopathic Association.

A graduate of the Nova Southeastern College of Osteopathic Medicine in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., in 2002, Dr. Thomas completed internship training at Broward General Medical Center. He then completed his residency training in General Surgery and Urology at the Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia, Pa. Additional training in pediatrics was done at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and oncology training at the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York, NY. He then went on to complete a fellowship in Urologic Oncology at  Cleveland Clinic Florida in Weston, Fla.

Dr. Thomas performed research during his residency training and presented his work at the annual meeting for the American Urologic Association. He received the American College of Osteopathic Surgeon’s Award for Scientific Poster Presentation in Urology.

Born and raised in Maryland, Dr. Thomas attended Marietta College in Marietta, Ohio, and earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Sports Medicine. He was also a member of Marietta College’s 1986 NCAA National Championship baseball team.

Moving to New York City after graduating from Marietta, he attended Cornell University Surgeon’s Assistant Program and worked as a Surgical Physician’s Assistant at Mt. Sinai Medical Center in Urology prior to attending medical school.

Along with his wife and three children, Dr. Thomas enjoys sports, fishing and music. They are involved with their church and the children play in the orchestra.
