Shawn Thomas, DO
Board-Certified Urologist
Shawn Thomas, DO, is a board-certified Urologic Surgeon and is a member of the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons and the American Osteopathic Association.
A graduate of the Nova Southeastern College of Osteopathic Medicine in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., in 2002, Dr. Thomas completed internship training at Broward General Medical Center. He then completed his residency training in General Surgery and Urology at the Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia, Pa. Additional training in pediatrics was done at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and oncology training at the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York, NY. He then went on to complete a fellowship in Urologic Oncology at Cleveland Clinic Florida in Weston, Fla.
Dr. Thomas performed research during his residency training and presented his work at the annual meeting for the American Urologic Association. He received the American College of Osteopathic Surgeon’s Award for Scientific Poster Presentation in Urology.
Born and raised in Maryland, Dr. Thomas attended Marietta College in Marietta, Ohio, and earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Sports Medicine. He was also a member of Marietta College’s 1986 NCAA National Championship baseball team.
Moving to New York City after graduating from Marietta, he attended Cornell University Surgeon’s Assistant Program and worked as a Surgical Physician’s Assistant at Mt. Sinai Medical Center in Urology prior to attending medical school.
Along with his wife and three children, Dr. Thomas enjoys sports, fishing and music. They are involved with their church and the children play in the orchestra.
