High Level Weight Management Services

Successful weight management is a matter of learning and practicing new skills. At Halifax Health, we offer five different programs and four of them are provided by HMR Weight Management Services (HMR), named the No.1 “Best Fast Weight-Loss Diet” 7 years in a Row”! The programs focus on teaching lifestyle skills that will reduce weight and improve overall health. With a vast variety of options ranging from aggressive HMR low-calorie meal replacements to more gradual structured meal plans – your plan is catered to you. As a participant, you will have one-on-one sessions with a registered dietitian, exercise physiologist and physician along with weekly behavioral modification classes and weigh-ins with our dietitian.

Participants are given a free membership to the Wellness Center during their time in the program and a personalized exercise plan developed by our exercise physiologist.

Florida Healthcare Plans and Volusia Health Network are very supportive of persons with a Body Mass Index (BMI) of 30 or more. A doctor’s referral is required.

Halifax Health is the only location in Volusia County that offers the world-renowned weight loss program HMR Weight Management System. HMR is a medically-based weight loss and weight management program that was founded in 1983. There are multiple program options to choose from within HMR, yet at the foundation all of them include a combination of a structured diet, physical activity and one-on-one coaching with a registered dietitian.   • How does HMR compare to other nationally recognized weight loss programs?

    • In 2018 HMR was ranked #1 Fast Weight Loss Diet by U.S. News & World Reports annual diet rankings for a second year in a row. HMR’s program for weight management is one of the most effective weight-loss options available. The program shows that it is possible for overweight and obese individuals to achieve meaningful weight loss by integrating diet, physical activity and weekly one-on-one coaching.
  • What is HMR?

    • HMR provides medically supervised weight management programs to clinics, hospitals and major medical centers throughout the United States. HMR was founded in 1983 by Lawrence T.P. Stifler, Ph.D.
  • How does the program work?

    • The goal is to help people achieve high rates of compliance with the lifestyle skills that can lead to weight loss and weight-loss management. One of the ways that HMR helps people to stay on the diet is that they encourage people to eat as many of the foods in the diet program as they’d like in order to stay full while still keeping calories low. This helps to stay on the diet longer and ultimately helps lose more weight.
  • How much weight does the average participant lose?

    • In the most structured clinical option, average weight loss exceeds 20% of initial body weight, or 66lbs. for a mix of Decision-Free and Healthy Solutions patients with a BMI greater than or equal to 40, who completed 26 weeks.
  • Does the program help participants with conditions such as diabetes and high blood pressure?

    • It is well reported that weight loss is associated with favorable changes in risk factors for co-morbidities associated with obesity and with decreased medication needs. Because most HMR programs offer medical supervision, we are able to work with patients who have diabetes, high blood pressure and other obesity-related conditions.

The Halifax Health – Lighter Lifestyles Weight Management Program has a variety of service options, including the award-winning HMR (Meal Replacement) Plan and a Lifestyle Change Program. The Core Program – 20 weeks – topics covered: Goal Setting, Meal planning, Mindfulness, Nutrition Tips for Reducing Inflammation and much more. The focus of the program is to help participants improve diet quality and quantity while working to achieve personal fitness goals.

Maintenance – During this time, you will receive ongoing support and accountability to maintain weight loss.

She has worked in the area of weight management for over 20 years and enjoys helping people accomplish their personal lifestyle goals.
