Dr. Hedson Desir was born and raised in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He attended Florida Atlantic University where he was a Microbiology Teaching Assistant, instructed an undergraduate Organic Chemistry course, and earned honors for research involving antibiotic resistant bacteria. He graduated from Florida Atlantic University with a Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience & Behavior and Biological Science. Upon graduating, he worked in a managerial role for a biotechnology organization before ultimately starting his medical education at Creighton University School of Medicine in Omaha, Nebraska and Creighton University’s regional campus in Phoenix, Arizona.

He was the mentor chair as a medical student where he mentored middle school, high school and undergraduate students who were pursuing STEM careers. He is most proud of his volunteer work providing healthcare screening/home placement for low-income/homeless populations in the South Florida, Omaha and Phoenix regions. He is passionate about mentorship, diversity and inclusion, and educating and addressing healthcare disparities. In his free time he enjoys playing basketball, dancing, biking, listening to music, and being outdoors. He loves meeting new people, so be sure to stop and say hello if you happen to see him around the clinic/campus.
