Dr. Lekha Vemuru, a New Jersey native, considers herself a long-time Ohioan, inspired by women she knew in the medical field. She completed an accelerated 7-year BS/MD program at the University of Toledo in Ohio, majoring in Biology with minors in Spanish and Chemistry, and was inducted into the Gold Humanism Honors Society. Passionate about full-scope practices and preventative and multigenerational medicine, she pursued family medicine at the University of Florida, where she was Chief Resident and Co-President of UF GME Housestaff Council. There, she met her fiancé, fellow family physician Keith Shamrock.
Discovering a love for obstetric care, Dr. Vemuru is now pursuing a women's health fellowship at Halifax Health. In her free time, she enjoys hiking with her Bernadoodle puppy Shilo, running half marathons, playing volleyball, planning travel, and relaxing with TV and cotton candy ice cream.
