R. Steven White, MD - Medical Director

R. Steven White, MD, graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology from the University of Georgia. He then earned his medical degree with honors from the University of Louisville College of Medicine in Kentucky. His outstanding achievements during medical school led to his induction into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. Dr. White went on to complete both his internal medicine residency at George Washington University Hospital and his pulmonary fellowship at Georgetown University in Washington, DC.

Dr. White holds board certifications in internal medicine and pulmonary medicine. He is a fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians and a member of the Florida Medical Association. He is past president of the National Catholic Medical Association and the Florida Catholic Medical Association and currently serves as president of the Catholic Health Care Leadership Alliance.

Dr. White has practiced pulmonary medicine in our area since 1984. He has been Director of Respiratory Therapy at Halifax Health since 1990 and serves as Medical Director of Health Health – Pulmonary Care. He has made significant contributions to the practice of pulmonary medicine at Halifax Health over the course of his forty-year career and while continuing clinical practice is also uniquely qualified to direct the development of the next generation of pulmonary care in our community.
