About

Cancer and its treatment can often impair normal daily activities. Whether it’s fatigue, neuropathy, pain, weakness, mobility difficulties, memory or attention difficulties, exacerbations of old injuries, or anything that can impair activities of daily living, our Rehabilitation Oncology Patient Navigator at Halifax Health – Cancer Center for Hope is here to help.

The role of the Rehabilitation Oncology Patient Navigator is to detect, mitigate, and help treat functional decline of cancer patients. As part of the oncology treatment team, this healthcare professional is an advocate for patients who are candidates for rehabilitation.

If you’re experiencing one of the functional declines below you may be a good candidate for Rehabilitation Oncology:

  • Neuropathy that limits activity or impairs balance

  • Falling or difficulty walking

  • Difficulty with dexterity or coordination

  • Lymphedema

  • Muscle, joint, or other pain that limits activity

  • Difficulty swallowing or speaking

  • Long-term side effects from radiation

  • Difficulty with any normal activities of daily living

Our Rehabilitation Oncology Patient Navigator is here to provide you support so you never have to feel alone on your journey.

If you would like to speak with our Rehabilitation Oncology Patient Navigator, please contact Stephanie Crandall, PT, DPT at stephanie.crandall@halifax.org or call 386.425.3898.
