Tumblin Named 2015 Halifax Health Nurse of Excellence

On May 5, Halifax Health celebrated National Nurses Week (May 6-12, 2015) by naming its 2015 Nurse of Excellence.  This year’s winner is Greg Tumblin, a registered nurse who works in the hospital’s Intensive Surgical Care Unit.

The Nurse of Excellence Award annually honors outstanding Halifax Health nursing professionals for their dedication to quality patient care.  Candidates nominated meet the following criteria: maintain ethical and professional behavior; participate in teaching of health maintenance and disease prevention; support quality improvement initiatives throughout the organization; offer nursing care that reflects the mission, vision and values of nursing service; and possess the ability to apply critical thinking and decision-making skills to care for the patient’s needs.

Nurse of Excellence nominees recognized at the event included: Marisue Roszel, Laura Smith, Anne Widdison, Deborah Cuellar, Shannon Starin, Cherene Sipe, Debra Medders, Ingrid Hodge, Kathleen Flaherty, Stephanie Carr, Ericka Smith-Walls, Valentina Hawkins, Vicky Distel, Heidi Wright, Lauren Platt, Meganne Sarau, Deborah Jackson, Jennifer Lanni, Amanda Wilson, Jenny Franklin, Karen MacDonald, Kellie Schoffstall, Pam O’QuinnAmanda Wells, and Carol Rimart.

The “Rookie of the Year” award, which is given to newly hired nurses, went to Joshua Holm, a registered nurse who works in the Clinical Decision Unit.
