DAYTONA BEACH, FLA. – (January 10, 2019) – Tonja Williams, MSN, DNP, RN has been named chief nursing officer for Halifax Health, a 678-bed community healthcare system based in Daytona Beach, Florida.
“Tonja Williams is a proven leader having successfully built her career working in nursing and administrative positions for more than 20 years. She brings a wealth of educational experience to the Halifax Health team and we are pleased she has joined us to lead our very talented and dedicated nursing staff as we care for all members of our community,” says Alberto Tineo, senior vice president and hospital chief operating officer for Halifax Health.
A Halifax Health employee since 2017, Williams has 23 years of nursing and leadership experience in medical surgical, intensive care and emergency services as well as quality management. Prior to her promotion to Halifax Health’s chief nursing officer, she served as the director of nursing for the medical surgical service line and director of operations with responsibility for Halifax Health – Emergency Department of Deltona. Beginning in September 2018, Williams served as Halifax Health’s interim chief nursing officer.
Williams holds a Doctor of Nursing Practice in Organizational Leadership from Eastern Kentucky University and a Master of Science in Nursing Administration from Indiana Wesleyan University. She currently serves as adjunct faculty at both Eastern Kentucky University and Indiana Wesleyan University.
Williams is a member of Sigma Theta Tau – the National Honor Society for Nursing.
