Who’s eligible to receive a referral bonus?
Team Members classified as Managers, Nurse Coordinators, contract employees, and Human Resources
employees are not eligible for the bonus program. All other Halifax Health Team Members are eligible to
receive the bonus.
What is the bonus?
Team members will be eligible for a $10,000 incentive per nurse and if nurse hired, they receive a $10,000 sign on bonus.
If a referred CNA leaves during the department specific orientation, no payments will be made. If the referred CNA leaves the employment of Halifax Health at any time after the initial $500 payment,
the Team Member will forfeit any remaining payments. Should a Team Member who referred a CNA leave Halifax Health employment, all future payments would be automatically forfeited.
All applicable federal and employee taxes will be deducted from bonus payments.
What CNA’s are considered qualified candidates?
Certified nursing assistants who are referred to Halifax Health must meet hiring standards, including an
interview, verification of past employment, proof of current licensure/certification, employee health
requirements and background screening/drug screening.
Team Members will not receive a referral bonus for recruiting CNAs from or for other Halifax Health affiliates, including Halifax Health – Hospice.
Former Team Members who have returned within 30 days are considered reinstated employees, and those Team Members who are re-hired within one year do not qualify as part of the referral program.
How do I refer a candidate?
Halifax Health Team Members who wish to refer an applicant need only have the candidate print the name
of the referring Team Member(s) in the designated space on the employment application. If more than one
referring Team Member’s name is indicated on the application, the bonus will be shared by each of
those listed. If your name is not on the application, you will not be eligible for a bonus.

Team Members that refer a permanent full-time or part-time registered nurse, with a minimum of one year of
experience, will receive $5,000 payable as follows: $1,500 upon successful completion of department specific
orientation, $1,500 after one year of employment, and $2,000 after 18 months of employment.
If a referred RN leaves during the department specific orientation, no payments will be made.
If the referred RN leaves the employment of Halifax Health at any time after the initial $1,500 payment,
the Team Member will forfeit any remaining payments. Should a Team Member who referred an RN leave
Halifax Health employment, all future payments would be automatically forfeited.
