Halifax Health to Host Groundbreaking Ceremony for Deltona’s First Hospital on December 4

DAYTONA BEACH, FLA. – (November 30, 2017) – Halifax Health will host a groundbreaking ceremony celebrating the start of construction for Halifax Health Medical Center of Deltona – the city’s first hospital – on Monday, December 4 at 11:00 a.m.  The event will take place at the future hospital site, which is located beside Halifax Health – Emergency Department of Deltona at 3300 Halifax Crossing Boulevard in Deltona.

In 2016, Halifax Health received approval from the Agency for Healthcare Administration, the chief health policy and planning entity for the state of Florida, to build a 96-bed, full-service hospital in Deltona.  When complete, the hospital will have six levels and will offer laboratory, imaging, pharmacy, endoscopy and surgical services, including two fully-equipped operating rooms.  The hospital will also include a catheterization laboratory/interventional radiology, a post-anesthesia care unit, and an intensive care unit.

Additional amenities will include food service, a gift shop, and a chapel.  A supporting central energy plant and surface parking are also a part of the $105-million project that, when complete, will total 202,242 square feet of new construction.

Direct access will be provided from the new hospital to the existing free-standing emergency department located nearby.  Opened in April 2017, Halifax Health Emergency Department of Deltona features a full-service imaging center, 16 beds and 12 examination rooms, including a bariatric examination room; an area for trauma patients; an isolation room for patients with a potentially infectious disease; and a decontamination room for patients exposed to hazardous material or chemicals.

Officials representing Halifax Health, Volusia County Government, the City of Deltona and surrounding West Volusia communities will be in attendance at this event.
