Halifax Health Delivers Trauma Care to 13 Patients During Biketoberfest 2026
As hundreds of thousands of motorcycle enthusiasts traveled to the Daytona Beach area for Biketoberfest 2026, Halifax Health remained prepared around the clock to provide advanced trauma and emergency care for residents and visitors throughout the four-day event.
During Biketoberfest 2026, Halifax Health treated 19 Biketoberfest-related patients, down from 23 patients in 2025 and 26 patients in 2024. The health system recorded 13 Biketoberfest-related trauma activations and 13 admissions, representing the lowest totals in the past six years.
Motorcycle crashes accounted for 16 cases, with no fatalities reported on arrival and no in-hospital deaths among helmeted riders. Of the 15 drivers involved, 10 drivers were confirmed to be wearing helmets.
“While we are encouraged to see fewer serious injuries this year, our teams remain prepared to respond at a moment’s notice,” said Lindsay Duffy, Director of Nursing at Halifax Health. “Every Biketoberfest patient receives the highest level of specialized care, and these outcomes reflect the dedication, skill and collaboration of Team Members across Halifax Health.”
Patients ranged in age, with a median age of 58. The majority were male (18 men, 1 women), and came from a wide geographic area:
3 from Volusia County
4 from other Florida counties
12 from out-of-state
