Halifax Health Delivers Trauma Care to 21 Patients During Biketoberfest 2025

Daytona Beach, FL (October 22, 2025) – As thousands of motorcycle enthusiasts gathered for Biketoberfest 2025, Halifax Health stood ready to provide critical care throughout the four-day event.

During the event, Halifax Health Medical Center of Daytona Beach treated 23 Biketoberfest-related patients, with 47 total trauma team activations in the Emergency Department - 21 of which were directly linked to the event.

Motorcycle crashes accounted for 22 cases, with no fatalities reported on arrival and no in-hospital deaths among helmeted riders. Of the 18 drivers involved, only 5 drivers were confirmed to be wearing helmets.

“Our team works tirelessly to ensure every patient receives the highest level of care, especially during high-impact events like Biketoberfest,” said Lindsay Duffy, Director of Nursing at Halifax Health. “These numbers reflect not only the dedication of our Team Members but also the strength of our trauma system.”

Patients ranged in age, with a median age of 51. The majority were male (16 men, 5 women), and came from a wide geographic area:

  • 6 from Volusia County

  • 3 from other Florida counties

  • 14 from out-of-state

Halifax Health remains committed to the safety of our community, and will release finalized data once all patients have been discharged.
