Daytona Beach, FL – (November 10, 2023) The team members at Halifax Health showcased the true spirit of giving by donating over 175 Basket Brigade Boxes, each containing the essentials for a Thanksgiving dinner, complete with a gift card for a turkey, to be delivered to families in need around the community. This heartwarming initiative, which began many years ago with just 100 baskets, has flourished into a community-wide effort, with over 5,000 meals donated and delivered this year.

Amy Hall, the visionary behind the program, initiated this act of kindness, and she marvels at how it has grown over the years. She shared, “What started as a small effort has blossomed into a beautiful tradition of generosity. Witnessing the impact of each donated box on families in our community is truly humbling.”

Amy, who drove the truck to collect the Halifax Health Team Member-donated boxes, shared her personal connection—being born at Halifax Health. She expressed, “It was incredibly heartwarming to see team members stream out of the France Tower with boxes and boxes. Each box represents not just a meal but a gesture of care and compassion from our Halifax Health family.”

Heidi Wright, RN, and Interim Chief Nursing Officer played a pivotal role in spearheading this remarkable effort. She expressed her astonishment at the overwhelming response from the Halifax Health family. Heidi remarked, “The generosity displayed by our Team Members is inspiring. It’s a testament to the strong sense of community and team work that defines Halifax Health, the community’s healthcare leader for over 95 years.”

Looking ahead, the anticipation is high for next year, with the hope that this wonderful tradition will continue to grow and make an even greater impact. The Halifax Health family has once again demonstrated the power of unity and care, making a meaningful difference in the lives of those in need during this Thanksgiving season.
