Anyone can refer a patient for kidney transplant. This includes your nephrologist, your primary care provider, or other specialists. You can even "self refer" to our transplant program by calling us directly. Our center will work with you to complete the necessary forms. We need your insurance information as well as clinical data in order to get insurance approval. Once insurance is approved, you will be scheduled for an in-person appointment with a provider. Once all testing is completed and reviewed, the team evaluation and test results are discussed. During this meeting the team decides if anything further is needed for successful listing. We will also address any medical, psychological, and financial concerns. If approved for active listing, the candidate will provide monthly blood tests so that tissue typing (matching) with potential donors is available.
