Vascular surgeon Michael Yacoub, M.D., Fellow, American College of Surgeons, has joined the University of Florida Heart and Vascular Surgery program at Halifax Health.
DAYTONA BEACH, FLA. – (April 18, 2019) – Vascular surgeon Michael Yacoub, M.D., Fellow, American College of Surgeons, has joined the University of Florida Heart and Vascular Surgery program at Halifax Health.
Dr. Yacoub is an assistant professor of surgery in the division of vascular surgery and endovascular therapy at the University of Florida College of Medicine. He is board-certified in both vascular surgery and general surgery.
A graduate of the Ross University School of Medicine in Dominica, Dr. Yacoub completed his general surgery residency at St. John Hospital and Medical Center in Detroit, where he served as chief resident. Subsequently, he completed a vascular surgery fellowship at West Virginia University School of Medicine. Dr. Yacoub also completed an advanced aortic fellowship at the Mayo Clinic School of Graduate Medical Education in Minnesota, which focuses on treating complex thoracoabdominal aortic aneurysms using fenestrated-branched endografts.
Prior to joining UF Health Heart and Vascular Surgery, he practiced at West Virginia University School of Medicine where he served as an assistant professor of surgery and trained vascular residents and fellows. During this time, he published multiple articles in peer-reviewed journals and authored multiple book chapters in the field of vascular surgery. He also serves as a peer reviewer for multiple vascular journals.
Dr. Yacoub is a member of several vascular societies, including the Society of Vascular Surgery, the Southern Vascular Society and the Eastern Vascular Society.
His clinical interests include open and endovascular treatment of aortic aneurysms and aortic dissection, minimally invasive treatment of thoracoabdominal aneurysms using fenestrated-branched endografts, and open treatment of mesenteric occlusive disease.
