Safety & Security

Protecting Those Who Are Healing

Our Halifax Health – Safety and Security team’s primary focus is on maintaining a safe and secure environment for all patients, visitors and Team Members.

With a keen eye for detail and a commitment to proactive measures, our Safety and Security team patrols the premises, and identifies and addresses any potential safety hazards or security concerns.

Beyond their core responsibilities, they also serve as a point of contact for anyone needing assistance or directions within the hospital. Their approachable demeanor and readiness to lend a helping hand contribute to the overall comfort and well-being of everyone in the hospital.

Visitor Information

  • All visitors over the age of 18 are required to have a Halifax Health issued Visitor ID Badge. All visitors will be asked to present a valid photo ID and state the purpose of their visit. A Visitor ID Badge, valid for one day, must be worn at all times while on campus.

If you are guest coming to meet a Halifax Health Team Member, please check in at the Visitor Badging Station located at the Information Desk, receive a Visitor ID Badge and call the person you wish to visit for them to meet you at the Information Desk.

Delivery personnel (food, flowers, etc.) must be met by a Team Member before (or at) the respective Entrance or Information Desk to complete the hand-off.

  • Halifax Health does not assume responsibility for valuables brought with you and left in your room such as purses, jewelry, eyeglasses, hearing aids, dentures and other personal items. We suggest leaving your valuables at home or entrusting them to a relative or friend until you are able to use them. As a courtesy, a hospital safe may be used for depositing your valuables in the event an emergency did not allow for making these preparations in advance.

Halifax Health will make every attempt to return lost property to its rightful owner. Our Team Members catalogue the property you arrived with upon admission, and will return that property to you upon discharge.

In the event where you're retrieving your items after you've been discharged, or if you're retrieving items for a loved one, you must present a Valuables Receipt Form or a valid photo ID.  Additional information may be required if you're retrieving items for a loved one.
